US Treasury yields rise to levels not seen since 2019 - reports

‘More pain ahead’

US Treasury yields have risen to their highest level since 2019, after the US Federal Reserve hiked interest rates for the first time since 2018 last week, and indicated this week that it will “move more aggressively”, if required, to bring down inflation.

The yield on 10-year US Treasuries has climbed to 2.3% this month, a level not seen since May 2019, according to the FT. The two-year Treasury yield has also risen in March, increasing 0.69 percentage points so far, the FT also reported. On 16 March, the Fed raised interest rates by 0.25% and said it now expects to raise rates a further six times this year as it attempts to bring inflation under control.
