This year has been another 12 months of equity markets grinding higher, politics once again having a major influence on markets, most notably in Europe, and central banks beginning to look to taper their monster bond-buying programmes.

Ben Gutteridge (pictured), head of fund research at Brewin Dolphin, has named his top seven funds to look for in 2018 across a variety of asset classes, ranging from emerging markets to global fixed income.
