Henderson's Awdry: Investors must navigate many 'known unknowns' in China

Henderson's Charlie Awdry has said there are still opportunities in China if investors are willing to accept a 'new landscape for businesses'.

Awdry (pictured), who runs the group's £576m China Opportunities fund, said recent events, including the devaluation of the renminbi, had fundamentally changed the conditions of the Chinese market and economy. China's plan to internationalise the renminbi "Unfortunately, (the re-rating of the renminbi) has opened the currency up to market forces and the Chinese are at risk of talking themselves into a weaker currency.
