Over the next few days, we will know who has inherited the poisoned chalice of governing the UK through the rest of this decade.

Having spent many weeks patiently listening to all the schemes, policies and initiatives, my core observation is we are entering into an era of a more activist government. Activist governments are not necessarily a bad thing – a progressive one might, for instance, try to deal with declining social mobility, while a more centrist one would commit to transforming the UK's economic potential by up-skilling our workforce.
