Environmental issues are top ESG issues for retail investors and intermediaries when assessing how these factors will affect their portfolios, according to a report by Research in Finance.
When asked to name ESG issues which were front of mind when making investment decisions, the most familiar topics were climate change, carbon emissions, and pollution, overtaking social and governance issues. The company's UK Responsible Investing Study found that for 48% of 210 retail intermediaries (103 discretionary fund managers and 107 investment advisers) interviewed between 20 November and 10 December 2020, climate change was the most mentioned issue, followed by pollution (31%) and carbon emissions (30%).
