Adviser approaches to outsourcing

Partner Insight: Andy Bennett, director of Hartcliff Financial Planning and Serena Van der Meulen, director at Van der Meulen Associates met recently in London to discuss the topic: 'Adviser approaches to outsourcing.'

Talking to Square Mile's Alex Farlow, Head of Risk Based Solutions Research, in the video above - the first in a series of five discussions -  Bennett and Van der Meulen discuss why they have chosen to outsource.

Andy Bennett says: "I outsource to a multi-manager. The idea behind that is to provide a consistent solution for my clients. They are looking for a good solution from me, involving planning, rather than building portfolios and spending lots of time using background research."

Serena Van der Meulen adds: "I outsource totally but not so much to DFMs. Previously, if you had a large portfolio and you needed a more bespoke approach, you would go to a DFM, but now multi-managers have become much more sophisticated in their approach, and it seems to work better for my type of clients."
